POSTURE


Correct singing posture - Standing

Feet: Slightly apart; one slightly in front of the other.  Your body's weight should be slightly forward on the balls of the feet.  Avoid putting your weight on your heels.
Knees:  Not locked!- Flexible
Hips: Rolled slightly forward in like with your body.
Chest: Held high, but not strained or unnatural.  It must not collapse or move up and down while breathing.
Shoulders: Held back & down.  Do not hunch.
Arms: Dropped at the sides of your body in a natural position.
Hands: Relaxed and not fidgeting
Head: Chin should be parallel to the floor; don't poke it out!
Eyes: Always on the conductor.


Correct singing posture - Seated
Feet: Both flat on the floor, not crossed.

Legs: In a position that will provide balance & firm supprt.
Back: Held away from the chair; do not hunch.

Hips: Rolled slightly forward in like with your body.
Chest: Held high, but not strained or unnatural.  It must not collapse or move up and down while breathing.

Shoulders: Held back & down.  Do not hunch.

Arms: Relaxed on your lap or holding your music.

Hands: Relaxed and not fidgeting or holding your music
Head: Chin should be parallel to the floor; don't poke it out!
Eyes: Always on the conductor.
